ALPHABET RAINBOW: A Fistful of Queer Plays

Brighton Fringe Interviews: Nick Myles

As well as writing and directing his own Brighton Fringe show, Nick Myles somehow found the time to grab six of his fellow writers to find out more about their shows. You can find details of all the others here.

The last of this short series sees Nick catching up with… himself, where he asks himself about his own show, ALPHABET RAINBOW: a Fistful of Queer Plays, his collection of five quality short plays exploring queer lives today.

ALPHABET RAINBOW plays at Rotunda Theatre Brighton: Squeak on 17, 18, 25, 26 May. Further information and bookings can be found here.

Hold on – aren’t you the one writing these articles?

Shhh!

Show in a nutshell?

Five short plays. Comedy! Drama! Sex! Furniture!

Inspiration?

Life as a queer person.

Why Brighton?

Brighton is the queerest city in the UK.

Have you put on a show at Brighton before?

In 2008. It rained, and we discovered our venue was not waterproof…

Who do you think your show will appeal to?

Fans of top-quality short plays.

Do you plan to take the show elsewhere after Brighton?

London, maybe.

What challenges have you faced with the show?

Giving each a play a very distinctive character of its own.

What are you hoping to achieve?

Rave reviews, industry attention.

Any chance you’ll break even on the show?

Only if we transfer.

Our thanks to Nick, both for his interviews with other writers taking shows to Brighton Fringe this year, and to Nick, for answering his own questions! ALPHABET RAINBOW plays at Rotunda Theatre Brighton: Squeak on 17, 18, 25, 26 May. Further information and bookings can be found here.
