The Etties: The “Grassroot” Fringe Venues
The Etties were created to champion the venues and shows that often feel sidelined by traditional award ceremonies. It’s not that other awards ignore them on purpose, but rather a classic case of comparing chalk and cheese. How can a production staged at The Space—on a budget that would barely buy you a pint and a packet of crisps—fairly compete with a show at a venue like the Arcola, backed by full institutional support? We love both, but it’s the grassroots spaces that need our spotlight most.
Below is our core list of fringe “grassroots” venues. Every show staged at these venues is automatically eligible for The Etties.
Please note: This isn’t a definitive list. As we’ve outlined in our Etties Ethos, we will happily consider eligible shows at other venues, too. However, these specific spaces represent the very heart of our mission.
Want to feature your brand? If your venue is listed and you’d like us to include your logo or imagery, please get in touch!
Missing a venue? If you think a space should be on this list, let us know and we’ll look into it.
