The Etties 2025: And The Winners Are…

We were really excited to releaunch our Ettie Awards, back for a second time to celebrate our year in reviewing. With a massive 597 shows reviewed in 2024, we felt there was plenty to get our teeth into with what we hope will now be our annual awards.

Obviously with the awards only being about shows we’ve reviewed in the previous year, we’re not going to suggest we saw everything. But we do like to think we saw enough to make our awards relevant and based on quite a good foundation. Next year we hope to make them even bigger, especially given that we are looking very likely to easily pass 600 reviews – in fact we’re targeting 700 this year, with contributions now not just from London but around the country.

Our main criteria for this year’s awards was that shows had to be at either a Fringe or OffWestEnd venue (each category had a slightly different definition for these), or in the case of Fringe Venue of the Year, we had to have reviewed at least ten shows there during the year and it has less than 100 seats.

But for now, let’s celebrate our awards for 2024. Our winners are:

Best Drama (in a fringe venue)

Best Comedy (in a fringe venue)

Best Musical (either touring or in a fringe venue)

Best Theatre for Young Audiences

Best of the rest: The Category without portfolio

Best of Camden Fringe

The Above and Beyond Award: ET Reviewer of the Year

Mike Carter – An ET Old hand, Mike’s been with us for six years. If we have one complaint about him thought, it’s that our editors get rather bitter about the fact he seems to be able to turn in almost perfect reviews full of humour and insightfulness on the same evening. In fact, our editors get so bitter they delight when they find a single spelling mistake or a slight typo in his reviews.

You can read a selection of Mike’s reviews here.

If you want to be part of our reviewing team and help us select next year’s Ettie winners, we’re always looking for new people. You can find out more about joining us here.

If you want to get involved in any other way, we’re also always looking for people to help with editing, write features, put together interviews, or even help with publishing our reviews on our website. Again check our the Join Our Team page for further info. It can be a lot of fun, and look very good on your CV!

We’re always thinking about next year’s Ettie Awards, with ambitions to introduce a few more awards along the way. So watch this space.
