Written in 1612 and set in 1476, Lope’s brilliant tragicomic account of the true story of the rising up of the villagers of Fuente Ovejuna against the sexual tyranny of their feudal lord Fernán Gomez is regarded as one of the great classics of Spanish Golden Age Theatre. Flipping from screwball bucolic comedy to heart-breaking tragedy, combining terrible puns with exquisite verse and modern pop references, join us for a subversive new adaptation that invites you to become one of the villagers of Fuente.
Will you help Frondoso get the girl he loves? Will you save Laurencia from the clutches of the baddie? Will you rise up against the Commander and teach him a lesson he’ll never forget?
