Georgie Henley on performing in Philip Ridley’s Tarantula

Georgie Henley, best known for her role as Lucy Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia, and more recently, The Diplomat (Netflix) and Partygate (Channel 4), will be performing in the Philip Ridley monologue Tarantula at Arcola Theatre throughout January. She first performed the show online for Southwark Playhouse in 2021, but it is now set for its live premiere.

We caught up with Georgie during rehearsals to chat about the joys of working with Philip Ridley, what it’s like coming back to a role she first played during lockdown to an empty theatre and what it will be like to finally have an audience present this time around.

Tarantula comes to Arcola Theatre from 8 to 25 January. Further details and tickets available here.

Tarantula

Written by Philip Ridley

Directed by Wiebke Green
Starring Georgie Henley

“Of course – as you’ve no doubt guessed – there’s a big ‘But Then’ moment heading this way…”

It’s a sunny, spring day in East London. On a street corner, two teenagers kiss. One of them is Toni. This is her first kiss.
It makes her very happy.

But someone is watching.

Someone who doesn’t care about her happiness at all.
And they’re about to change Toni’s life… forever.

Arcola Theatre presents the live premiere of Philip Ridley’s Tarantula. A startling exploration of identity, memory, love, and the lengths it takes someone to free themselves from the web of their past.

Tickets available here.
