More good news as another of our regular haunts, Islington’s The Pleasance, is set to re-open next month, having undergone a complete redesign to meet Covid regulations.
Embracing the new normal, the venue has transformed its main house into what they reckon is “London’s most exciting, socially distanced comedy, theatre and cabaret space“. And judging by the images below, courtesy of The Pleasance, it certainly looks like they have put a lot of effort into making the venue viable for reopening, it’s unrecognisable from the usual rows of seats we are use to there.
Of course, most of us won’t go just to witness the new design of the venue, we do need a good show to watch as well. So, what have they got lined up for the new season?
First up will be Godot is a Woman, (11 – 15 November) which was in tech at the time the venue closed its doors back in March. By having this as the first show on re-opening it is a statement of the venue’s commitment to their artists.
Next Charles Court Opera, ‘The masters of Gilbert & Sullivan in small places’, are returning with Express G&S (17 – 22 November). They will be making up for lost time by staging the complete works of Gilbert & Sullivan in just over an hour!
December is the Pleasance Queer Christmas Cabaret Season. This includes Bedtime Stories (1-2 December), Pecs: Queer Christmas (10 – 12 December) and Gifted (15 – 17 December)
