Claire Parry discusses her show Boorish Trumpson
Our latest guest on our Runn Radio show was Claire Parry. Claire is about to bring her latest show, Boorish Trumpson to this year’s VAULT Festival. In it she plays a power-grabbing rehearsal conductor by the name of Boorish Trumpson who will stop at nothing to gain ultimate control over the orchestra. Now whoever could she be thinking about with that character and his unpleasant traits?
We discuss the show and how the audience are all part of her orchestra (no musical knowledge required, so don’t panic), why you don’t really need to know much about politics to enjoy the show, whether we should be allowed to tell young children to never vote Tory (spoiler alert, we agree it should be compulsory) and why Arts Funding is never enough for what it delivers in return!
Boorish Trumpson plays at VAULT Festival 11 and 12 February, tickets available here.

7.30pm Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 February
Boorish Trumpson: a power-grabbing rehearsal conductor who will stop at nothing to gain ultimate control over the orchestra. And YOU are the orchestra.
With clowning games, audience interaction and unexpected orchestral manipulations, Boorish Trumpson plays with the audience in an attempt to assert his ultimate power grab. The unique sound design, virtuosic physicality and playful absurdity of the piece (not to mention a script constructed from verbatim Donald Trump and Boris Johnson quotes) creates a raucous humour whilst the bigger questions bubble below: in our world of troubled politics, how complicit are we in enabling such figures to rise to the top?
An interactive, music and clowning-filled interrogation of power and those who wield it from critically acclaimed Lecoq-trained clown Claire Parry.
About Claire Parry
Claire Parry is a Lecoq-trained clown and physical theatre maker. Since graduating Lecoq, her ensemble work with physical theatre company LoCo Theatre has been a finalist in Italian theatre competition Scintille and her debut solo clowning show, Intolerable Side Effects (about contraception and the side effects) has gone down as “a hilarious take on one of the most stark issues in the lives of modern women” (**** Wee Review). Boorish Trumpson is her second solo clowning show, for which she won PleasanceLABS support for its development. Claire takes a very multidisciplinary approach to her work and also works as a director, movement director, writer and composer. She was a finalist in StreetCake Magazine’s experimental writing prize and published in their anthology, and most recently was a member of the Masterclass Youth Board to encourage access to theatre for young people. As a performer she is represented by Carey Dodd Associates.
