Full Frontal Theatre discuss Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working
Our latest guests are Grace, Hen and Sadie, who together are Full Frontal Theatre. Their latest show, Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working is about to hit the stage at Lion And Unicorn Theatre, so it seemed a good time to sit down and chat to the trio.
We discuss the show, cancel culture, being young females in the arts and whether the audience should be naked during the show (spoiler, no, especially not in December!)
Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working will play at Lion and Unicorn Theatre from 17 to 21 December, with tickets available here.
Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working
Lion and Unicorn Theatre
17 – 21 December
Rodney Black, has made his career as a two-fingers-up-to-polite-society comedian, infamous for outrage and provocation. Fuelled by contemporary qualms around ‘language’ policing, his career is at its peak as he titillates and aggravates with equal measure, cushioned by the seemingly impenetrable defence that it is all ‘just a joke!’.
From Alpine Fellowship recipient Sadie Pearson, Full Frontal Theatre present this new dark drama. The ultimate dichotomy between celebrity and reality, it seems Rodney doesn’t believe a word he says, owing his career to a gratuitous persona and a money-hungry manager. When a dedicated super-fan makes headlines, Rodney is faced with an ethical dilemma as he engages with new found spotlight – to what extent is Rodney culpable?
CONTENT ADVISORY: Strong language. Themes of misogyny, violence towards woman and sexual harassment, and descriptions of sexual violence and references to self harm.
Tickets available here.
