Science meets love in a hilarious one-woman musical comedySummary

Rarely do I indulge in critical clichés, but as Carys Eleri zoomed in on the image of a woman in a photograph who had inspired in her a wild and savage rage for absolutely no sound reason, I found myself laughing so hard that my sides were literally aching.
The innocent object of this unreasonable fury has committed no greater crime than to have featured in one of the profile pictures of a man Carys’ taken a fancy to on Tinder. For Carys has been unlucky in love and is in pursuit of love and companionship.
But Carys is no mere singleton bemoaning her lonely status. She has the science and the songs to back it up. Gifted with a soaring voice and a wonderful imagination, she uses music and a procession of graphics on a big telly to guide us through such subjects as the effect of eroticised hormones on the brain, the results of feeding cocaine to rats, and the time she ended up in a six-tits situation.
It’s all quite silly but it’s also all true. It’s also slickly produced and very endearing. There’s a heartfelt conclusion about friendship, some free chocolate, and I got to hug someone who looked very like the actor Neil Pearson but probably wasn’t. One to watch out for.
