CAST AND CREATIVE TEAM

Encompass Productions are a London-based theatre and production company. They create bold work that explores the psychological and emotional, telling stories through cinematic, heightened reality to challenge, move and entertain.

John Foster teaches writing at the Media School of Bournemouth University and the London School of Film, Media & Performance at Regent’s University. He has published fiction in the Guardian and Spectator, broadcast talks for BBC radio, worked as a script editor, researcher and associate producer in television. His screen credits include episodes for television series such as Z-Cars, Softly Softly, Crown Court, Emmerdale, Juliet Bravo, The Practice, Rockliffe, Saracen and The Bill. He has written television plays, serials and dramatised documentaries, including a BAFTA award-winning BBC Omnibus on the American crime novelist Raymond Chandler. He scripted the Patrick Swayze movie Letters from a Killer and is contributor to the award-winning crime fiction collection, Mean Time. He is currently engaged in writing for theatre.

Michaela Frances Neal is a Reading-based director and producer who graduated with an English Literature degree from the University of Southampton. She is the artistic director of Colour of Fruit Productions. Recent work includes Eigengrau by Penelope Skinner (South Street Arts Centre), which she directed and produced. This sold-out production was revived at Reading Fringe Festival. Following the success of Eigengrau she was invited to be assistant director for FreeRange Productions on their original production of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline (Edinburgh Fringe Festival). She would later produce the innovative rap retelling The Stories of Shakey P by Charlie Dupré (Emporium Theatre). She is a regular director for popular new writing showcase Bare Essentials (Encompass Productions), recently directing Sniper by John Foster and Going Viral by Brandon Crose.

Jordan Kouame is a London-based actor who trained with Chickenshed Theatre and Fourth Monkey Theatre Company (London & Edinburgh). His latest credits include Yang Sun in The Good Person Of Szechwan (Trinity Buoy Wharf) Arthur Philip in Our Country’s Good (Trinity Buoy Wharf) Long John Silver in Treasure Island (The Space/Ed Fringe) Rupert in Can’t Stay Away/Harlequin’s 22 Misfortunes (The Space/Ed Fringe). Other credits include Joe in Come On Down To My Kitchen, Sexisto in Lysistrata (Chickenshed Studio Theatre) Philip/Freddy in Noises Off, Oberon Fairy in Shakespeare’s Island (Rayne Theatre), James in Sniper (Take Courage Theatre) and Tim in This is Not a Christmas Play (Top Secret Comedy Club).

Matthew Leigh is a London-based actor who trained at the MMU School of Theatre in Manchester. His theatre credits include David in This is Not a Christmas Play (Top Secret Comedy Club), The Cardinal in The Duchess of Malfi, Vindici in The Revenger’s Tragedy, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival, and Prince Albert in new revolutionary play 1848. He also starred in the record-breaking crowdsourced feature film 50 Kisses, independent action thriller The Window Seat, and 5-star Edinburgh show Lethal Injection, which was nominated for an Amnesty International award.

Zara Malik is a London-based actor and graduate of Drama Studio London. She performed with Encompass Productions as part of their physical theatre-based ‘Aspect’ characters in What It Feels Like (London and Edinburgh Festival Fringe). Other theatre credits include Esperanza in The Angelic Aspiration (Drama Studio London), Beauty in Sleeping Beauty (touring pantomime) and Playful Kitten in More Light (Edinburgh Festival Fringe).
