HOME SWEET HOME, A MONOLOGUE FROM SCOTTISH WIDOWS

Home Sweet Home is one of the monologues in Olivier award-winning playwright Grae Cleugh’s new comedy Scottish Widows. Agnes is 75 and has led a full and active life. But when her husband Bill dies, loneliness leads her to make the fateful decision to invite her son and his family to move in with her. This leads to some unintended consequences as Agnes’ son, daughter-in-law and their children take over not only her house but then her life too. Agnes, a feisty, very funny though maybe too trusting woman, tells us her story from where she lives now – Woodburn Care Home.

Grae Cleugh won the Olivier Award for Most Promising Playwright for his first play F***ing Games. Due to the success of the reading of Scottish Widows at the last Scripts Spotlight Live Reading it has gone on to a full production and will be performed at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington from 6-24 May 2014. Four of the six monologues in the collection will be performed. Home Sweet Home is one of the two that will not be performed on stage. For now!
